Do they even hear themselves anymore? They're literally saying: "Don't write for that old algorithm; write for this new algorithm instead, even though we've lost control of it and don't really understand why it's doing what it's doing."
They don't seem to understand that the Google Search algorithm isn't actually a human user. That it's a mathematical attempt to deconstruct human user metrics, that it does an increasingly poor job of that because they've gummed up the works with all sorts of attempts to be too clever, and that the AI element is making it unstable and inscrutable.
I have no idea who Ms. Harvey is and have never seen her content, but she's been gaslit.
If u don't mind kindly share ur everyday routine with me I'm curious ...Im sorry if u felt offended though that wasn't my intention...I'm just curious
The pool of suckers SEOs can take advantage of is shrinking fast. Many site owners now understand that AIO, refinement boxes and ads are getting all the traffic. Just look at all the blow-back from Google's latest Creator Summit, which suggests people aren't buying anything Google says.
when will they do something about expired domain abuse, been like 10 years where spammers have been able to use this tactic. How hard can it be to fix? so much of it
Lots of sites dropping here in Brazil. Discover graphs in GSC also with weird behavior. One in particular jumped from 2024/12/17 to 2025/04/15. No gaps, just like last december was yesterday
<blockquote>people could still be using Google more</blockquote>People have to, or use another source as Apple is claiming, because Google has made it so incredibly difficult to find anything with all their own fluff.
Google said "We continue to see overall query growth in Search." Google accomplished this by greatly lowering the quality of the results and their excessive use of refinement boxes. At times I see up to (5) refinement boxes on the first page of Google. If for nothing else, Apple should part ways with Google because Google's quality is so incredibly poor.

<blockquote>We could increase queries quite easily in the short term in user negative ways (turn off spell correction, turn off ranking improvements, place refinements all over the page). If we, as a company, want to go there we should discuss that. It is possible that there are trade offs here between different kinds of user negativity caused by engagement hacking. </blockquote>
Volatility...
Who knows, maybe Discover traffic will return to Brazilian publishers... But no! It's easier for Google to make the situation even worse.
Yet some SEO types are still lying on Reddit and online hoping some desperate website owners hire them. and after getting paid telling the customer they did their best when the site doesn't get traffic or rank due to AI overviews. The SEO trying to sap out the most money from desperate owners who lost traffic before they become obsolete.
The "<b>volatility</b>" nowadays.
<b>BIG sites</b> go higher.
<b>SMALL sites</b> go lower, to the point they will go extinct, buried deeper to make sure they will no longer appear.
Every other day there’s a new problem with Google Business Profiles — now the address toggle doesn’t even work. It’s getting frustrating for businesses trying to manage their listings properly.

Makes sense — Safari might be getting fewer Google searches, but people could still be using Google more through the Google app or Chrome. So both Apple and Google could be right in their own way.
Why do people complain about Google Discover traffic gone when that is a random inclusion, it's not guaranteed and you cannot sign up for it or submit a site to it. There is no way to get into Discover other than Google choosing you.
